HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The name of the school is Gabane Junior Secondary School, named after the village (from Gabanne Gabana- Kgosi of the Bamalete Tribe). The school started in 1986 with a roll of about one hundred and forty students from Gabane and surrounding villages. Currently, the school has a capacity of eighteen streams with eighteen base classrooms, two science rooms, a hall with a kitchen. Home Economics and Design and Technology laboratories also comprise the pavilion, the machine room and there are also Art and Computer laboratories together with the Business Studies laboratory. The school has the capacity to enroll 720 students.

THE EMBLEM
The emblem is a conglomeration of the ideas from both students and staff of Gabane JSS. This is a sign of co-operation, the will to work hard and forge ahead for a brighter future.
This is the very theme behind the emblem, hence the phrase; MOFUFUTSO GO JEWA WA PHATLA.
